It was the first week of January 2013 that my mother of 77 years of age, received news that her sister Lita from hawaii will be coming to Manila for a vacation... The last time that they've met was during the funeral of my late Father (Oscar Hernandez). This made her very excited. The date was set to February 5, 2013 at Tagaytay.. Before that date, My mommy if only you could see her was very eager and excited. She always mentions the date whenever she can talk to any person in our neighborhood and even at church.

February 5, 2013 came. We were advised by my aunt that the meeting will be in Tanauan, Batangas first, and we will all be going to Tagaytay together using only one van. It was around 3:30am in the morning that I woke up my mom. To my surprise, she is already wide awake. (I dont know if she slept at all).. She did the usual things.. Cleaned herself and dressed up.. I told her "WOW NAKA-SPUTING SI MOMMY"..(Wow Mom.. You dressed up pretty nice)... Mommy requested to drink coffee first before going as it is still very early... So I was on my PC surfing and my Mom was sitting in the dining table while drinking coffee.

After 15 mins. I told my Mom that if she is done, we can now go and start our travel going to Tanauan, Batangas. My Mom stood up and spoke to me. I was surprised.. Her sound is Garbled and Gibberish. I immediately took a closer look at my mother's face and I have noticed that her face is slanted to the right side downward.. She was about to collapse but I was able to grab her and carry her to her bedroom and lay her there. it was a good thing that I have an emergency supply of Nipidepene for persons with very High BP. It was a capsule type so I opened 2 and cut a hole in it and administered it directly to my mother's mouth. After 15 mins. Her face became normal. I called up my relatives who are waiting for us in Tanauan and relay to them the sad news. With barely no money, I resorted in researching the web on how to take care of stroke victims and I was able to see a site that really helped me alot. it was a site that provides emergency care for persons who had a stroke in a remote island or help is miles away. I followed every instruction and by God's good Graces, mommy was getting fine.

During the night at about 8pm, our relatives who went to Tagaytay went to our house to visit my mother. My Mom was still doing okay then. Days past, and on the wee hours of Feb.9, i checked on my mother at around 4am and she was on a very deep sleep. At first we thought that it was okay but, she was just snoring heavily and is not moving at all. We decided to rush her at our hospital in Ospital ng Cabuyao. She was treated there for Hypoglycema. She again recovered and the doctor was surprised on her recovery. The doctor was able to talk again to my mom and she can even sit and stand up. The doctor decided to discharge my mother and just thought me how to take care of her at home.

We arrived at home and my mother did the usual, like going to the bathroom and eating. On my side, me and Najee went to tanauan, Batangas to get some help from her brother and sister. My wife via text message told me that mommy went again to a deep sleep. We arrived at home at around 8pm and again mommy was rushed to the hospital. The new doctor in the ER treated her for a heart stroke which I told her that my mother was treated earlier by the first doctor for Hypoglycema. Avoiding any discussions, we transferred my mother to JP Rizal District Provincial Hospital in Calamba City, Laguna. There the doctor was surprised why the doctor in Cabuyao did not treat my mother for Hypoglycema. My mother was admitted to a ward. My Mom's condition became worst. She is not anymore responding to gestures. The doctor talked to me that I have to prepare myself and accept the possibility for my mother.

Honestly, looking at my mom's condition, it was really a loosing battle. My mother was snoring very hard, and her teeth was black already. The doctor told me that my mother's body is not anymore accepting oxygen. I asked the permission of one caretaker, to look after my mom as I will just be going home and prepare for the inevitable. I told the caretaker to not to worry as my mother is just unconcious. I went home and delivered the sad news to my wife. We even talked of funeral preparations but we still prayed, hoping for a miracle as we believe that it is only our Lord that holds the fate of my mother. As I was sleeping, my cellphone rang at around 4:00am. It was a Wednesday (Feb. 13, 2013). It was the caretaker and he told me that my mother woke him up and was requesting to have her clothes changed as she is very wet. I immediately rushed back to the hospital and there I saw my mother, fully awake and talknig to me for the first time. her teeth has turned to white again. it was a MIRACLE. Even the doctor was surprised. But God is the author of our life. That is what we always believe. My mother is continuously recovering and thanks to a very good friend in the name of Everett Gualberto. He is my Kababata and fellow gimik partner during our high school days in Don Bosco. He gave us a very timely financial aid. We were able to buy my mom the needed medicines and also the needed laboratory exams such as Blood Chem and CT Scan. Of all the persons whom I asked for help. Only my friend Ever was the one who answered. My friend if you are reading this... I'm sure that God will reward you for this... Not top mention also one classmate whom of all people, he also answered my help. This two persons was touched by God to help others in need. May both of you be blessed always and may God also protect you and your family. Mommy is now slowly but surely recovering.

Welcome Althea Jones ( Aljay ) Hernandez

It was the early morning of October 01, 2011 that my wife Mhel delivered into this world our third and last child in the name of Althea Jones Hernandez via Cesarean Procedure. It was a truly dramatic moment in our lives as we have been bombarded with numerous life 's challenges. Mhel was supposed to be confined at our town's hospital (Ospital ng Cabuyao ). Unfortunately, she was denied there and I had to insist and talk to the hospital director there. Sadly, we were still denied. The time was around 12 noon that we decided to travel to Jose Rizal District Hospital, which was proven a blessing to us. I immediately got my wife a single private room there; thanks to the District's Philhealth program.

Althea or Aljay proved to be an angel in our house everyday. As she grows, she has the eyes of her mom and the jolly smiling face of her dad. We are truly blessed in having three (3) daughters in our family.

A Simple Holiday Season 2011

The year 2011 was very memorable to my Family in terms of trials and challenges. First, was my hospitalization last June 2011; My first ever Asthma Attack last August; The Blessing of another daughter in our Family in the name of Althea Jones (Aljay) Hernandez; My second Hospital Confinement; My Resignation with Genpact Phils; and My Succesful Carreer Move at Firstsource Solutions Inc.

Those were the brief flashback summary of what happened in our lives during the year 2011. But one things for sure. We had one nice and bountiful yet Simple Christmas and New Year Family Celebration. It was not as Grand as the previous years but this I will consider as the best evewr as we all have learned that it is not only through extravagance and high spending that we can celebrate the Holiday season.

My First Ever Asthma Attack

The year 2011 was very centered focused on my health. in an early part of this yar I was diagnosed having Gallstones in which, it eventually led to my Gallblader operation last June 14 - 20, 2011 at the Calamba Medical Center in Calamba City, Laguna.. After a month, I was able to come back to work but on this last week of August, I incurred a Flu due to the unpredictable weather condition in which Im very vulnerable. This led to the deterioration of my natural strenght. At around 5am of August 24, 2011.... I had a fatal asthma attack which made my whole house panicked.. specially my wife.. I coughed so hard and was having difficulty breathing while I felt that my heart was slowly fading away... Then the most unexpected feeling happened... I Blocked Out.. Then at a few seconds I returned and gained my consciousness once more.. In what I thought that it was just a few seconds, according to my wife, I was out for almost five(5) mins.  my wife said that I was already frozen stiff and my skin turned black already.... The weirdest feeling after I regained my consciousness was as if I went on a very long journey and I was so thirsty and sooooo exhausted.... I thank God that I recovered... In the morning we went straight to the hospital to have my chest checked... I was escorted to the Emergency Room of Calamba Doctors Hospital, near Checkpoint, Calamba City... I was treated there and was given numerous anti asthma shots and antibiotics for the lungs.....

I was also forwarded to a Pulmonologist and I was advised to be confined as they will be running some test because we had a family history regarding this kind of ailment. To mention, my dad died of Asthma last Feb 20, 1999... I will still be asking the advice of my original doctor and seek his second opinion as he is also a Pulmonologist... if I want to be confined, it has to be in my doctor's hospital, which is in New Sinai MD Hospital or St. James Hospital, Sta Rosa, Laguna. As I'm writing this Blog, I'm still at my recovery stage.. But Im hoping and praying that I will be back to work once more.... I would like to thank my Bosses who are continuously in full support of my recovery from my condition.....

My Gallbladder Operation Experience

It was last June 8, 2011 that i called in sick due to high fever... I thought it was just a flu at first, but the fever became persistent for several days and come Sunday, not only do I have fever, but my stomach is always aching, specially my lower back right side... Come Monday, I called in sick again and we immediately went to the hospital for me to get checked...  At first they ran an Ultrasound on my gallbladder and it was confirmed that there is a big stone a size of 2cm in it that has to be removed..

We prepared the necessary documents for my confinement. I contacted my boss to update him of my situation. I got admitted last June 14, 2011 at room 3316 at the Calamba Medical Center in Crossing, Calamba City, Laguna.. June 15, 2011 my cardiologist made a go on my operation procedure. and come June 16, 2011 at around 7am I got operated.

I woke up in the Recovery room at around 1:30pm (same date) with so much in pain. I asked the nurse if the "Painless" Laparoscopy procedure came through. The Nurse said it did really went through but unfortunately my gallbladder was already black & swollen so they decided to do a Major Open Surgery instead. that was the reason of the pain that Im feeling in which I was expecting that it was supposed to be painless.

Due to my continuous rise of Blood Pressure, my stay in the Recovery Room took almost 6 hours. My BP continue to play from 180/120 to 170/100 to another whooping 180/130.. BP IV's had to be administered to bring down my BP. And at around 7:00pm (same date) I was at last transferred to my room where my wife awaits me. There for a moment we became emotional and tears continuously rushed down from my eyes.. The rest of the remaining days was a recovery stage for me.. I could'nt move, I could'nt sleep and I lost appetite on eating... I was officially released from my confinement last June 20, 2011. I really would like to thank the Lord for the strength that He has given me and a new chance of a better life ahead of me.

Now at this point, I will still continue to recover and hopefully my strength will be back after 2 weeks for me to come and report back to work again at Genpact....

Family Swimming @ Southwinds Resort

Our Family had such a great time last May 14, 2011.. We all went on a Night Swimming at a very new resort just at Bo Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna. It's name is Southwinds Resort. Thanks to my mom's Senior Citizen card as we had a great discount and we only paid Php 650.00 ( Entrance for 5, and a Rectangular table good for 10 persons).. We arrived there before 6pm and we started preparing for our grilled foods..

Our foods are just simple but we had really a great sumptous meal. At the thought that we are only few who went to the resort, at around 10pm, the resort started to be full. Yet all are enjoying the place and there are many guards and lifeguards around the site.

We all really did enjoyed our Family affair and we started to pack up at around 4am.. Before going home, I treated them all for a big Belgian Ice Cream.... We are again planning to go out on our next adventure most probably on the birthday of my mommy this coming August 7, 2011....
